Every person has a name. Every name has a story.

We recognize the importance of names, but when it comes to the Bible, we don’t love to read the lists of names because they are hard to pronounce and do not seem to have any connection to us.

This week we are discussing Nehemiah 3. At first glance, Nehemiah 3 may not seem like a chapter of the Bible that you want to read or discuss, but the more you dig into the chapter and the people listed, the more you realize how important each name is.

  1. Read Nehemiah 3.
  2. Why do you think the Bible and the authors of scripture make a habit of listing people’s names?
  3. These are real people with real stories. What do you think the people were feeling when they started rebuilding the wall?
  4. Who do you know that tends to serve behind the scenes?
  5. How have you sacrificed to serve the church?
  6. How can you continuously ensure you are moving in the same direction as our church community?
