We hope that small groups continue to be a blessing to you, as you seek to grow more into the image of Jesus within a community that shares that same goal. This week, we will look at the second half of Nehemiah 2, as
Nehemiah prepares to lead the people of Jerusalem in rebuilding the wall of the city.
As a helpful guide, when reading Old Testament narrative, the main idea of a story is found in the dialogue. The writer includes important details along the way, but the dialogue shapes the narrative’s main point. This is especially true this week!
- Who are some of the most influential leaders that you know? (good or bad) What stands out about them? (good, bad, wise, quick to act, etc…)
- How do you tend to lead or guide those around you? (Family, friends, co-workers, etc..)
- Read Nehemiah 2:9 – 20.
- How does the dialogue in verses 17 – 20 help shed light on the whole narrative of chapter 2?
- Nehemiah knew he would be successful because God’s hand was upon him. How often do you consider God’s hand accompanying you in your day-to-day tasks?
- No matter who you are, as followers of Jesus, we are all called to servant leadership. What aspects of servant leadership do you do well? Where can you grow in servant leadership?
